Random Nothingness

Do you ever feel like you have been SO busy that you just haven't had time to get done what you wanted to or needed to, then you turn around and say "What the crap HAVE I been doing?" because you have nothing to show for having felt so busy? Seriously! Lately I've felt that there aren't enough hours in the day, yet I don't know what I would do with the extra hours if they were given to me because I can't see what I've done with the hours that I already have.

So what have I been doing since last posting about not posting because I have so much to do? Hmm... well, I have half of ONE scrap book layout done, one photo edited, and the pieces to Alyssa's quilt cut. That's it. In two weeks. At this rate, instead of Alyssa getting all her scrap books when I one day kick the bucket, she'll be getting 862 cds full of images needing to be edited and printed, along with countless scrapping supplies. And by the time I'm finally finished with the quilt, she'll be forced to use it on her daughter's bed, instead of her own. Hopefully I'll have a grand-daughter that doesn't mind purple.

I don't enjoy feeling like I am accomplishing nothing. I have a HUGE to-do list for tomorrow and the rest of the week, and I thought about slapping it up here and reporting back on it later on. If I were to do that, one of two things would happen. Option A: I would never report on it because I either did absolutely nothing, or I was so busy with my list that I ran out of time. Both of which I'm sure would leave all of you with sleepless nights wondering how much I was able to check off of the glorious list of to-do's. Or Option B: I would end up evaluating my day/week and actually report my progress. My fear for this is that the report, would be lacking in substance. That I would not accomplish what I wanted to and my list would be staring me in face pointing and laughing at my failures.

Being that feeling like a failure is no where to be found on any list that I've ever compiled, I decided I needed to turn down the notch on my to-do's. Shorten it up a bit if you will. And I think I'm going to report my progress, hold myself accountable for accomplishing something good in my day. I've narrowed my list from millions of things to do, down to three.

1 - Reacquaint myself with the treadmill, not just saying "hello" but actually getting my butt on it AND turning it on.
2 - Take Alyssa to the library.
3 - Buy a new purse.

Just three things. It's going to be rough, but I think if I put forth the effort, I'll be able to manage. Anything else that gets done in addition to this will be considered an added bonus. I'm pretty sure that the dishes, laundry, toilets, tubs, floors, photos, scrapbooks, quilt etc will all be waiting for me later on in the week. They are so very patient with me. They let me get to them on my own time, I don't have to adhere to their schedule.

Good for you to make a list. I have been feeling the same way. I am totally crazy busy but NOTHING is getting done! I am going to blame it on the weather. It's always the stupid snow's fault!! :)
By the way, love the new layout!!

i need to do the "list" thing. good luck on doing it. I am going to have a "home party" and sell purses. they are SO cheap like 10 bucks for VERY CUTE purses. So if you want a new purse wait for my party!! :)
I also LOVE the pic of lyssa. she is looking so old. I too love the new layout! very cute!!

Looks like a good to do list! I laughed so hard when you say that A will have all of these CD's to edit and print and the quilt will be for your granddaughter. I know the feeling. All too well because nothing is getting done around here either.

Great idea to make the "to do" list shorter. I think we all feel like nothing gets done, but we're so busy. Cute pic of Alyssa! :) What a big girl she's becoming!

Cassie...I love your new layout. I didn't think you could put pictures down the side with Pyzam's layout...cool. Okay, I so totally laughed out loud when you talked about saying "hello" to your treadmill...you need to get out more. Hee! Hee! Ha! I totally feel that way to though about being so busy. I've started just making myself organize one closet, drawer, etc. a day. Even if it is something small, I at least feel like I accomplished something as far as cleaning.

I say - No to do list, No feeling like a failure! Let us all burn our to do lists and fly by the seat of our pants!

I hate to do lists because then I actually see the million things I have to do. DONT WRITE IT DOWN, it's not worth it!!! ;)
