It Must Be Spring

This would be our grill. Nothing fancy-schmancy, just a grill.
Notice anything strange about it? Perhaps the grassy twigs poking out the sides? Clearly we haven't used this for a while. Some people enjoy freezing their backsides off during the winter to grill. We are not part of that group. If we were smart people, we would have pulled it in to the garage while we weren't using it. Obviously we're not part of the smart people group either. We're our own special group of people here. Back to the grill. Upon noticing the weeds spilling out of the grill, I thought I'd investigate. I'm sure you'll never guess what I found...
It has been determined that Momma bird is one hard working chick. The entire grill is full of lovely treasures that she collected for her babies' nest. Seriously? It's an amazing nest, and it didn't hardly budge when I lifted the lid. Such a skilled little birdie. What's even more amazing to me is that she pulled everything through this little hole.
Don't be waiting for an invitation to bbq at our house any time soon. We'll be waiting for baby birdies.

We have a Robin's nest too, but fortunately for us, it's in a bush in the backyard.

While you're waiting for eggs to hatch, you can come over to our place for BBQ. Matt's fantastic with a spatula!

That is so fun! What an engineering little Momma bird you have there! Sounds like the Robinsons will be hosting the BBQ's for the next few weeks :)

That's so neat. We had a tree just outside out front window in our town house, and one year a mama robin built a nest there. She came back every year to have her babies. It was so fun to watch her!

That is seriously amazing! I can't even believe it. Who needs a bird feeder when you have a bbq grill.

Isn't that so awesome? We had one in our grill last spring. When Mike opened it the eggs fell out and cracked, so he torched it. Very sad. Glad that you are in the nice people group who don't torch nests that mama birds have been working so hard on!

My friend just blogged about the EXACT same thing! Even the eggs are the same color. Her blog is private or I would tell you to check it out....the sad part is that they destroyed the nest AND the eggs! I am glad you are being kind. :-)
